All Traffic Was Not Created Equal

October 18, 2009 By: zero2heromn Category: traffic

Recently I’ve written about image search optimization. Not too long ago I began to reap the benefits of tediously setting up images across all my sites a specific way. One day this week my site traffic spiked way up. I was pretty excited until I found out that 90 out of 100 of the new visitors were all visiting though google image search. They were all looking for one particular image on my server.

How to write articles that want to be found

September 20, 2009 By: zero2heromn Category: Pro Blogging

Once you have your blog up and running it can be frustrating to see that your traffic doens’t take off right away. There are lots of ways get traffic that take alot of manual effort. Once I figured out how to write articles that want to be read, I began to see a lot of new traffic coming to my pages that didn’t require any effort on my part, because people were already looking them.

The key to a successful article is to write with purpose. Many times a post is just a repeat of something that’s has already been said before or its a random collection of your thoughts. If you want what you’ve written to be found by people then you need to keep the reader in mind from the beginning. Before you even start writing, you should think about why this person is going to want to read this particular article. What question are you answering? What need does this article fufill for the reader?

Boost Your Sales / Traffic Answering Questions

Answer Peoples Questions

I spent a few hours promoting my pages this weekend in two new ways and had some pretty good results.

I had written articles of two different types for other webpages. One kind of article was the How-To article, and the other was a review with an affiliate link.

With this as my ammunition I set out looking to get some more traffic and possibly make some affiliate sales. In a way similar to a door to door salesman.

The first place I went to was a forum where alot of my people in my niche hung out. I set up a profile and made sure to fill out every detail, the picture, website , and about. This way people could later find my page.

Next I went trolling around until I found someone who was asking a question that was relevant to one of my articles and shot them a quick reply.

Finding Your Style – Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone

August 26, 2009 By: zero2heromn Category: Pro Blogging

When you first begin your blog, starting with the very first idea that you may want to create a blog, there are a number of obstacles you will come across. Usually the idea or inspiration comes first, and then comes thoughts of layout and design. So after a month of back and forth setting up the perfectly thought out theme weighing all your choices, you can now sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor. However this is actually point where you will encounter the most difficult part of blogging. Finding your style. When you have no traffic its almost impossible to know what the masses of people expect from you.

Your first few rounds of blog posts kind of feel like open mic night at a local pub. You most likely have been working on some material up in your head for some time now, but until this day you’ve never actually said it out loud for people to hear.

The key to this is for better or worse to just put everything you’ve got out there then sit back and watch the people react. In the beginning I found myself going from one extreme to the other, trying to appeal to a variety of readers. However the more I tried to get the attention of everyone, the more I succeeded in gaining the attention of no one.

July 29, 2009 By: zero2heromn Category: Updates

It’s been 32 days since I first started on my blogging journey. In the beginning I literally knew nothing about blogging. In the time span of just one month I’ve been able to accomplish many of the goals I set out to achieve.

Lets take a look back at the first 30 days and recap some of my mistakes and successes.

Traffic and Tactics
The first week was probably the worst feeling, I was unsure of what direction to take the blog and I was struggling to get between 1-3 visitors everyday. I just kept posting and started to branch out my network to similar blogs and forums where people might find my content interesting. My goal was doubling my traffic each week.

If you’ve ever tried using twitter to build traffic for you blog or website, then you know that there are tons of people out there who have the policy “If you follow me I’ll follow you back”, but what good does this really do for you.
