Run Windows 7 for 120 Days Without Activation
If you are a fan of “try before you buy” lifehacker.com is reporting that Windows 7 can be run without an activation key for up to 120 days.
Although Microsoft generally touts a 30-day time limit for users to activate their copies of the company’s operating system, a little-known command designed for corporate administrators can be used by anyone to “reset” the countdown up to three times.
Late yesterday, the Windows Secrets newsletter published step-by-step instructions on using a single-line command to add an additional 90 days to the stock 30-day grace period.

That’s handy to know, thanks. I haven’t tried out Windows 7 yet, as I am in the unusual (for me) situation of not having a spare desktop to try it out on. I avoided Vista, too many versions and no real reason to upgrade, but I keep hearing good things about Windows 7.
1I skipped vista as well, lately I’ve been considering making the jump to Linux. The release of Windows 7 will be the deciding factor.
